I'm a Rockstar Wedding Planner!

Actually...I'm also a Rockstar Wedding Legend!

I belong to a great wedding group called Rockstar Wedding Planners, and within this group there are a few of us who belong to the Mastermind Group called Rockstar Legends. In August, we all gathered in Canada to talk about our business, and help each other brainstorm fabulous new ideas.

What an amazing time and setting! Although, it took a bit to get used to the fact that the sun didn't set until like 11:00pm?
The Chateau Lake Louise....an amazing place for a destination wedding or honeymoon. The glacier lake is just stunning, eh?

It wasn't all work and no play! We took time to tour Banff and the Banff Springs Hotel. Another amazing destination venue. Some of you may think it sounds familiar....yep...this is where an episode of The Bachelorette was filmed.

Me & Ciara Daykin- our fearless Rockstar Leader.

Love my fellow Rockstar Legends! Such fab ideas and amazing women! Although it's been a couple months, I still finding myself saying "eh" a lot, eh?

I'm back! ....with Ideas for Remembrances at Your Wedding

I'm back at last!

Ideas for Remembering Those You've Lost at Your Wedding

I'm sure some of you were wondering where I've been? It's been a hard few months as I've been coping with the sudden loss of my mother. What a challenging time it's been as I literally, within just a couple weeks, lived the movie title Four Weddings and a Funeral. I reflect on the great times with my mom, those that she'll miss, and how proud she was of me, my family and all my accomplishments (including a thriving wedding consulting business). She loved hearing about all of your wedding plans, questioned some of my brides choices (until she saw the photos of the end results), and loved the stories about each of my clients.

As I've been working on plans for next season clients, I'm reminded of my own wedding and how lucky I am that I was able to have all my parents there. I've had several clients who have parents and family members that have passed away, and they often ask what's the best way to memorialize them without it feeling too depressing or more of a memorial service than a grand celebration.

So here's a few ideas to help you out:
  • Candles set to the side of the ceremony or reception area, sometimes with a picture. You can choose to light it during the ceremony or privately prior to the start of the ceremony. I had one client whose father loved golf, so to honor him we created this golf ball filled vase, they lit the candle in quiet family moment prior to guests arriving.

  • Brides can carry photos in charm frames on their bouquet or pinned in lockets. Make sure your photographer gets a few close shots of this. You can get these at most craft or scrapbooking stores. Here's one from Bridal Bling on Etsy.

  • We often will leave an empty seat in the front row to honor parents they've lost, with a small bunch of flowers.

  • Couples often choose to include a note of explanation in the program. I love this poem!

In memory of loved ones past………submitted by Lori Liebetrau
Although death has separated us physically, faith and love have bound us eternally.
Though we cannot see you, we know you are here.
Though we cannot touch you, we feel the warmth of your smile,
as we begin a new chapter in our lives.
Today we pause to reflect upon those who have shaped our character,
molded our spirits and touched our hearts.
May the lighting of this candle be a reminder of the memories we have shared,
a representation of the everlasting impact you have made upon our lives.

In honor of my fabulously stylish, loving, quick witted, proper, Australian mom here's a bouquet in her favorite color and flower. I love and miss you! Yet I know you are keeping an eye on all that goes on...including those interesting wedding choices, I know you'll love them in the end!

Brides Against Breast Cancer - My TV Interview

I was in Canada last week with my Rockstar Wedding Planner Mastermind Group, and I can't wait to tell you all about it, but first things first!

This is the week! This weekend is the Big Charity Dress Sale, VIP night, and Bridal Show!
Yesterday I did an interview with Molly Hughes from Channel 4 News all about the organization, dress sale, and bridal show. It will air on Thursday sometime...so look for that. (Here I am with Molly and one of our models)

We also have ads playing on Alice 105.9 and Wolf radio station. Plus there will be a live interview on Thursday on Colorado and Co.

If you're a bride, be sure to get in on this great opportunity to get a dress at a great price, and help breast cancer patients!

If you're a vendor, please pass this info on to your clients!

There will be awesome door prizes- vendor gift certificates, honeymoons, and wedding worth $20,000!

Wedding Design - Kate and Drew's Wedding

Kate and Drew's Backyard Wedding
Boulder, Colorado

I posted my photo of Kate and Drew's cake on Monday, but mine just don't do it justice.
I promised a few photos from Jared Wilson Photography and here they are. As usual he did an incredible job! (You can see more on his blog post too ) I love the last photograph of them cutting the cake....it was a little dark and I wasn't sure how he would get the shot without a flash.....he's a miracle worker!
Kate and Drew's wedding had a few little New Orlean's flair's to honor the groom's hometown.
New Orleans appetizers and second line band, and a surprise to the groom a groom's bar with a LSU 3-D tiger's head groom's cake, pralines, cigars, and favorite beer.
The rest was pure garden party wedding!

Photo of the Week- Garden Party Wedding

Photo of the Week- Garden Wedding

This weekend was Kate and Drew's Wedding in her parent's backyard. We got lucky on the weather! It rained during the set up , but was lovely for the rest of the evening. No...we didn't have tent!
I snapped a couple of quick photos of the cake. It was just gorgeous in front of the arch. We added twinkle lights and a few garden roses to the arch for a little romantic touch.

Photo of the Week- The Big Bustle!

Photo of the Week- The Big Bustle

It's that interesting part of the evening...let's lift up the gown and see what we got? It's the hustle to tie the bustle!
(Not a professional photo, just one we snapped on my phone...but there were 3 of us working on the 32 bustles of this gown!)

I always think bustling is so funny...you have 2-3 people under your gown tying you up...don't know why I think it's amusing?

Every wedding gown is different (usually easy to figure out when you've done a few like me), and it always take a bit of time to get your gown bustled so plan a few minutes girls. Just have one of your gals bring you a white wine to enjoy while you wait!

Photo Shoot on Monday

Bride and Bloom Fall Wedding Photo Shoot
I just returned from celebrating my hubby's 40th Birthday at Disneyland with the family. What a great time!

Here's what his office friends did to his office before we left:
Hundreds of personalized Happy Birthday sticky notes covered every square inch of his office, including his roller mat for his chair and floor. Yes, he's still cleaning them up.
It's always wonderful to get away with the family, but you do come back to a VERY BUSY week!
On Monday I'm doing a photo shoot for Bride and Bloom magazine as one of their featured wedding planners. It's going to be a beautiful fall look. Can't wait!
I'll let ya know when it's published! All right...back to work....
