Photo of the Week- The Big Bustle!

Photo of the Week- The Big Bustle

It's that interesting part of the evening...let's lift up the gown and see what we got? It's the hustle to tie the bustle!
(Not a professional photo, just one we snapped on my phone...but there were 3 of us working on the 32 bustles of this gown!)

I always think bustling is so funny...you have 2-3 people under your gown tying you up...don't know why I think it's amusing?

Every wedding gown is different (usually easy to figure out when you've done a few like me), and it always take a bit of time to get your gown bustled so plan a few minutes girls. Just have one of your gals bring you a white wine to enjoy while you wait!

Photo Shoot on Monday

Bride and Bloom Fall Wedding Photo Shoot
I just returned from celebrating my hubby's 40th Birthday at Disneyland with the family. What a great time!

Here's what his office friends did to his office before we left:
Hundreds of personalized Happy Birthday sticky notes covered every square inch of his office, including his roller mat for his chair and floor. Yes, he's still cleaning them up.
It's always wonderful to get away with the family, but you do come back to a VERY BUSY week!
On Monday I'm doing a photo shoot for Bride and Bloom magazine as one of their featured wedding planners. It's going to be a beautiful fall look. Can't wait!
I'll let ya know when it's published! All right...back to work....

Wedding Design - Apple Themed Wedding

Wedding Design
Jaylene and Jeremy's Apple Themed Wedding

This past weekend J&J exchanged vows at Red Rocks Trading Post followed by a luncheon reception at the Red Rocks amphitheater, and then a hot after party that evening.

Jaylene contacted me from my ezine and since she was planning long distance she thought a little help would be in order.

Early in the morning I was a little worried we would have to move everything indoors, but the sky cleared and they were able to have the great outdoor wedding they wanted.

Being at Red Rocks, home of great concerts...there was one that night even.....the bride selected appropriate music for the setting.

The Honored Guests were seated to Come Away with Me by Nora Jones.
The Bridal Party entered to Lucky by Jason Miraz.
The Bride to 1,2,3,4 by the Plain White T's.

The brides theme was apples...she had vases down the aisle filled with them which was just so summery feeling. They were also included in the reception, I loved the escort card table! The centerpieces were so natural with the pots filled with a variety of plants. The guests got to take the centerpieces home and I donated all the apples to the Denver Rescue Mission.
So here's a few pics....our photographers aren't available yet, so I'll post some of those soon!

Photo of the Week- Apple Themed Wedding

I love themed weddings! You'll get fun inspirations for details, they are different from the norm, fun to plan, and it makes it really interesting for your guests.

Jaylene picked apples as a tribute to her maiden name and she played it up!

Here's one photo I shot of the escort card table. Look for more on Jaylene's wedding later this week.

Wedding Etiquette - Holding the Bouquet and Walking the Walk

Wedding Etiquette-How to hold the bridal bouquet like a pro and walk the walk!

To some of you this may seem like such a basic thing....."hellooo Julie I know how to walk, I do it every day!" That may be true, but everyday are you wearing a stunning gown and have several hundred eyes watching your every move?

Don't worry, there are some basics to getting down the aisle in style:

-Put all those negative thoughts out of your mind about tripping, stumbling, fears of having people watch you, etc....I know it can be a little intimidating to have all those eyes on you. Just remember they are there to share in your happiness and so excited for you. Be sure to look down that aisle for your husband to be, he'll be beaming at you, and all your worries will be replaced by excitement.

-Here's the proper way to make your grand entrance. Your ladies have already started down the aisle, the moment arrives, the music changes, guests are asked to rise, it's your big moment! First things first, take a deep breath and relax! There's no need for the hesitation step (right together, left together, etc), a slow graceful walk will get you down the aisle in style. Be sure to select a song that has a good cadence...not too fast, not too slow.

-If you are a bit anxious I tell my brides to count backwards from 100 by threes, your mind can't process that and being nervous at the same time. By the time you get to 91 you may see your groom at the end of the aisle and forget that nervousness and everything else around you!

-Hold your bouquet down low. If you've ever watched a wedding movie, or one of those reality shows you'll see the bridesmaids and bride either carrying them right in front of their chest (hello...it's hiding all the beautiful beadwork on your gown!), out to the side in mid-air like a torch, or they get a little nervous and so as they start down the aisle it sneaks up, higher and higher until it's right under their chin and it looks like they're eating their flowers! So here's how to keep from looking like you're snacking on your bouquet. You probably will be holding on to your escort for support (and maybe to keep you from running down the aisle to your dashing groom) so you will hold your bouquet with one hand. As you hold the bouquet, take the thumb of the hand holding the bouquet and place it just a few inches below your belly button and hold it there. It gives you something to focus on as you walk. Tell this tip to your bridesmaids as well and you all will look consistent and fabulous as you walk down the aisle.

-Remember to not hold the bouquet against your dress, the stems may still be wet or the pollen may fall off and stain it.

-Take your time. You only get to do this once, so enjoy every moment.

Photo of the Week - Mexico Wedding

Photo of the Week- Beautiful Wedding in Playa del Carmen, Mexico

I know it's been a week since my last blog posts....catching up from being out of the country is always a challenge! No swine flu though - so that's good!

I was working at the Occidental Grand Xcaret Hotel for Lynora and Matt's wedding.

What a beautiful wedding and fun group!

Here's one of my favorite photos ...(one I requested from the photographer when I saw this corridor actually). We brought Jared Wilson from Colorado to shoot the wedding...he always captures such fabulous images. Visit his blog for more shots of Lynora andMatt's day. Fun fact...even some of the locals participated in the ceremony (Nuestra Playa del Carmen, a local Catholic Church)...kids leaning in the windows of the church, taking communion, and all very respectful. It all added to the flavor of the ceremony. The couple loved it!
